2016 Chinese Government Scholarship

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP-DEGREE STUDY IN PROVINCES

 & AUTONOMOUS REGION PROGRAM

Welcome applications to Liaoning University for Chinese Government Scholarship! The scholarship is not available to the international students who are studying in China at present. Chinese Government Scholarship-Degree Study in Provinces & Autonomous Region Program is established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to strengthen the education exchanges and cooperation between China and its neighboring countries.

Note:

1. According to the regulation stipulated by MOE, all the undergraduate programs are instructed in Chinese. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take Chinese language courses for 1- year and pass HSK level 5 to the major study. If students take Chinese language courses for 1 year, the duration of the scholarship will be extended for 1 year.

2. Duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission can NOT be extended in principle.

3. Please refer to the appendixⅠfor Liaoning University’s PhD & Masters’ Program list.

Application

The applicants shall apply to 103 Admission Office, Institute of International Education, Liaoning University before March 30th, 2016.

Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Applicants are not be a registered student in Chinese universities at the time of application; or be a graduate from Chinese universities for more than one year.

3. Education background and age limit:

-Applicants for master degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

-Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

Details of the Scholarship

1. Full scholarship: including tuition fee, accommodation on campus, living allowance and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China.

 Monthly living allowance is paid to the students by the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):

-Master degree students: CNY 3000Yuan

-Doctoral degree students: CNY 3500 Yuan

Scholarship students shall get their monthly living allowance from the date of registration. New students who register before 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the full amount of the living allowance of that month, and those who register after 15th will get half amount. The graduates will be given a living allowance for another 15 days after the graduation time set by the university. The allowance will be terminated from the next month after students suspend their studies, drop school or complete schooling from the university. Monthly living allowance covers school holidays. Scholarship students who do not get the monthly living allowance during holidays can get that upon return on campus. The allowance will be suspended for one month if students do not register on time without permission from the university in advance, leave for non-health reasons or are absent from the university over a month.

Students who have to suspend their studies because of serious diseases should go back to the home country and pay for the international trip by themselves. With the university’s approval, the scholarship status can be reserved for at most one year, and their living allowances will be suspended at the same time. The scholarship will be terminated for those who suspend their studies for other reasons.

2. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China in case of hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. The institutions or the appointed medical assistance agency provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company according to the stipulated insurance articles. The claim of individual student will not be accepted by the insurance company.

3. International travel expenses: self-afforded.

Application Documents: (No application documents will be returned.)

The applicants must provide the following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate).

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (printed by CSC), filled in Chinese or in English. Recommended candidates must finish the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students. Please go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org and click Application Online for International Students, complete the required information, submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online and print a hard copy.

2. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students or already employed, they shall also provide studying certificates or employment documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

3. Applicants for Master’s or Doctor’s degree of studies need to provide relevant notarized transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum of 800 words, including  major of application and the reason, personal educational background introduction, study or research proposal.

5. Applicants for master and doctoral degree studies must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

6. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the legal documents of their legal guardians in China.

7. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org). The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 3 months..

8. If available, applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose it in the application documents. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take Chinese language courses for 1- year and pass HSK level 5 to the major study.

9. Photocopy of the passport (photo page).

10. Seven pieces of passport-quality Photos.

The above materials should directly reach Liaoning University by March 30th, 2016. Application materials will not be returned regardless of the result of application. Individual applications will not be accepted by CSC.

Approval and Notification

1. Liaoning University will review the application materials and decide on the list of accepted students. An interview on internet would be necessary, which would be informed by the contact information from applicants’ Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship.

2. Liaoning University will send the Final Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study In China (JW201) to the admitted students by July 30th, 2016.

3. Scholarship students’ affairs shall be managed according to Scholarship Students Management Regulations of Liaoning University. Students are not allowed to change their institutions. In principle, students are not permitted to change their academic programs, or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice.
